Cover of valuables away from home
If you wish to insure items of value away from home ie:
• Jewellery, furs, watches and other valuables.
• Bicycles.
• Money/Credit cards.
You will need to pay extra on top of your accidental damage premium.
This will cover you against loss or theft as well as the other perils on your policy.
The minimum premium is normally around £2,500 but can be significantly more if you own expensive jewellery, watches etc.
Again this is expensive but must be considered if you want peace of mind whilst wearing your valuables away from home.
Comment
Jewellery is rarely stolen whilst being worn, but coats and bags etc can easily be taken. You need to look at your overall valuables and assess if it is necessary to pay an extra premium to cover items away from home, which can be relatively expensive.
If you have expensive jewellery etc. have it properly valued by a respectable jeweller, in writting, as insurers may ask for valuations.
NB:
When checking your policy, remember, it is just as important to look at what you are not covered for as well as what is insured.
