Comments:
New comparison site in September 2007 tescocompare.com. Breakdown cover cheaper when bought separately at Tesco. Uncompetitive throughout 2008. Check renewals closely as better alternatives are available. Very expensive. Poor value.

Company summary:

• Tesco are offering 1,000 club card points when you take out your motor insurance policy with them.

• Tesco are now charging £10 for windscreen repairs (previously free).

• More competitive recently on younger drivers.

• Good on young female drivers with no claims discount.

• Tesco good offer for breakdown cover at the moment.

• Breakdown cover including homecall £41 – excellent value.

• The Direct Line Group have a habit of increasing compulsory excess at renewal without properly explaining or highligting this on the renewal notice. They also impose automatic renewal of policies without properly telling their client.

• Tesco are not reducing no claims bonus if the vehicle is damaged due to vandalisim.
