Hazardous sports insurance
Winter Sports Insurance plus hazardous sports
Travel insurance is surely a must when taking a winter sports holiday. Remember that you are not only covering yourself for possible medical treatment, but it is also imperative to cover against causing an injury to another person or their property.
It is important to note that your policy will generally exclude cover whilst off piste, although it may include cover if you are with a professional guide (always check policy first).
Anyone who has skied or participated in snow boarding, will know how easy it is to get yourself hurt, and inadvertently cause injury to someone else.
Never undertake winter sports without good quality travel insurance. If you intend to attempt paragliding, scuba diving or any other sport or activity, which could be considered risky, whilst on holiday, make sure that your policy covers you before participating.
Comments
Only an idiot would undertake winter sports or any other risky activity without being properly insured. The percentage of people needing to claim off these activities is much higher than a normal holiday situation. Very often the problems can be quite severe and need extensive treatment or even repatriation.
Undertaking these activities without insurance is frowned upon by the authorities in various countries, and you will not get much sympathy or understanding.
Not usually covered:
• Parachuting
• Flying
• Mountaineering
• Go Karting
• Organised team games
NB
Always check your policy before having a go at anything remotely hazardous. |
