Tricks of the trade
Companies and intermediaries using the numerous price comparison sites have all realised the importance of being in the first six places on the league table when the prices appear on the screen.
The leaders of this were Swift Cover who legitimately stripped out all of the add ons like courtesy car, legal protection, protected bonus, etc. they were then continually near the top of the table.
Our research tells us that over 90% of comprehensive policy holders want a courtesy car and 70% want legal protection cover, and over 85% wanting protected no claims discount when it is available to them.
So usually the price quoted by Swift Cover was not what most motorists wanted from their policy, but it got them seen and made them look more competitive than they really were.
But now we have More Than quoting everything with a £750 voluntary excess, which hardly anyone wants, Kwik Fit are trying anything to get business, like quoting a client with a BMW £250 less than the nearest competitor, but he had a 24 year old son on the policy. When he rang to take the policy out he was told that the price meant that the 24 year old could only use the car once a week. |
