Useful anomalies:

Useful advice, tips and extras offered by some insurers: Out of the ordinary.

Mature drivers with young additional drivers, under 25:
• Privilege Insurance.
• Zurich.
• Churchill.
• Liverpool Victoria.
Insurance must always be in the name of the main user of the vehicle.

Any licensed driver over 26:
• Quinn Direct.

Comprehensive policies:
When inputting your desired voluntary excess online, always try the next excess down ie. if you want a £250 excess try the £150 or £100 excess as occasionally it will be the same price or very similar.

Short term policies for drivers not on maximum NCD:
• Admiral Group
10 month policy with 1 years no claims discount.

No Claims Discount (NCD):
• Norwich Union will allow no claims discount for up to three years after your last insurance policy (market norm is 2yrs).

Named drivers:
Several insurance companies are giving NCD to named drivers. But they are not explaining that the NCD is only availalble if you insure your car them and even if they allow you maximum NCD you will revert to one years NCD at the end of the first year.

Policies for one day to thirty days cover:
• E Car Insurance (over 21 years of age only).
• Budget Insurance (over 21 years of age only).

Policies including vehicle breakdown:
• E Car Insurance.
• Marks & Spencer.
• Quinn Direct (on third party fire and theft also).
• Sheilas Wheels from £21.
• Zurich Insurance.

0% interest on instalments:
• Direct Line (from time-to-time).
• Privilege (from time-to-time).
• Saga.
• Virgin.

Home insurance discounts:
If your home insurance is with any of these companies, you will get a good discount off your car insurance:
• Churchill.
• Direct Line.
• Liverpool Victoria.
• Prudential.
• Virgin.
• Zurich.

Convictions:
Virtually all companies ask you to declare any driving convictions within the last 5 years. They will expect you to declare any pending convictions and you need to be careful to declare convictions which are off your licence but still within five years. Insurance companies will always take an extremely aggressive stance if you have a claim and have not declared convictons when taking out your policy.

Accidents/Claims:
Some insurers ask you to declare accidents/claims within the last 3 years, such as Direct Line and associates, Admiral.com and associates, E Sure and associates, E Car Insurance. Whereas many ask for accidents in the last 5 years. This can make a considerable difference on price.

Admiral Group and Zurich Insurance:
Will usually allow NCD from EEC countries (and occasionally none EEC).

Company car NCD:
If you have driven a company car some insurers will allow NCD for each full year claim free you can have verified by your employer ie. 3 years company car equals 3 years NCD (normally over 25 years of age only). Eg.
• Direct Line & associate companies*
• E Car Insurance*
• E Sure & associate companies
• Liverpool Victoria
• Zurich
*The company letter will need to state that the vehicle has been used for social as well as business use and the car was exclusively for you, also you must not now have use of the company car and there is not more than a few weeks gap between the company car and your new one.

Van insurance:
The Direct Line group of companies are often very competitive for van insurance on their normal car policy. They usually allow use in conection with your occupation and can be usefull for carpenters, electricians, etc.

Legal Protection Policy
Worth up to £39.

"Your Legal Care Services gives you peace of mind, knowing that your claim for compensation will be dealt with by our knowledgeable team of staff who specialise in claims management."
